Little Rock's Arkansas Symphony has suspended an employee after discovering that $226,000 in orchestra funds was spent improperly between 2002 and 2005, reports.

Executive director William Vickery said that most of the money would be recovered or replaced through insurance and that new safeguards would prevent any further funds from being misused.

He added that the missing money comprises under 2 percent of the orchestra's spending over the last four years, and that it "will not impact the symphony's current and future performances."

The unnamed employee has been placed on "indefinite unpaid administrative leave" while the Little Rock police investigate.
