News Ashley, Dukakis and Davis Will Be Part of Hartford Stage Company's Starry 2007-2008 Season A starry line-up of award-winning performers and playwrights, world premieres and anticipated classics will comprise Hartford Stage Company's 2007-2008 season.

Hartford's SummerStage, presented in association with the Connecticut Theatre Festival, will open with Eve Ensler's provocative and riotous play The Good Body. Exploring cultural influences on women around the world, the production runs July 10-29.

Former "American Idol" contestant Frenchie Davis will star in Mahalia, a gospel musical by Tom Stolz that celebrates the queen of gospel music from Aug. 2-19.

Under the direction of Gregory Boyd, Thornton Wilder's beloved classic Our Town will kick off the mainstage season starring the legendary Hal Holbrook as the Stage Manager. The drama exploring small-town life that utilizes meta-theatrical devices marks the play's premiere at Hartford Stage and will run Aug. 30-Sept. 30.

The Wadsworth Atheneum, a Hartford CT landmark and a celebrated art museum, provides the basis for the world premiere of David Grimm's Chick, The Great Osram, about legendary Wadsworth Atheneum director Chick Austin. That play will run Oct. 13-Nov. 11.

A tenth anniversary production of Charles Dickens' Victorian classic A Christmas Carol – A Ghost Story of Christmas will delight holiday audiences Nov. 23-Dec. 29. Also returning to the Hartford Stage Company for its 44th season will be Tony Award winner Elizabeth Ashley in the American premiere of Zerline's Tale, Jeffrey Sams' adaptation of Hermann Broch's novel "The Guiltless." Hartford Stage Company artistic director Michael Wilson will direct the first English-language production, playing Jan. 10-Feb. 10, 2008.

Produced in association with the Long Wharf Theatre, Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison's novel "The Bluest Eye" will make its stage debut in a moving adaptation by Lydia Diamond from Feb. 21-March 23. Exploring a year in the life of a young black girl in Depression-Era Midwest, "The Bluest Eye" is one of Morrison's most acclaimed books.

The Scene, Theresa Rebeck's Off-Broadway hit comedy, will be produced in association with the George Street Playhouse. The biting comedy takes on the morally bankrupt world of the entertainment industry and celebrity and will run April 3-May 4.

Closing the main-stage season is the tenth and final entry in Hartford Stage Company's Tennessee Williams marathon: The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore, starring Academy Award winner Olympia Dukakis and running May 15-June 15. Michael Wilson directs Dukakis as an aging beauty queen writing her memoirs on the southern Italian coast.
