The Tony winner for his turn in Take Me Out joins Wicked star (and Miscast alum) Kristin Chenoweth, "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" guru Jai Rodriguez (Zanna Don't!) and Hairspray's next Edna Turnblad, Michael McKean ("A Mighty Wind")
Miscast features Broadway's finest performers singing some of Broadway's most popular musical songs. The catch: The songs are from roles in which they would never be cast.
La Chanze (Once on This Island), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Rent), Christine Pedi (Forbidden Broadway) and McKean's wife actress Annette O'Toole ("Smallville") will also join the celebrated signature musical revue directed by Scott Wittman (Hairspray). More casting will be announced soon.
Past performances have included Kristin Chenoweth and Harvey Fierstein playing husband and wife, respectively, in the duet "Do You Love Me?" from Fiddler on the Roof, Amy Spanger bellowing "Old Man River" from Showboat, Peter Gallagher pleading "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina" from Evita, David Miller's rendition of "I Feel Pretty" from West Side Story, Raul Esparza flying high "Defying Gravity" from Wicked, Louise Pitre performing "The Impossible Dream" from Man of La Mancha, Adam Pascal on A Chorus Line's "What I Did For Love" and Jackie Hoffman doing "I'm Still Here" from Follies
The event is set to take place at Bridgewaters (11 Fulton Street at the South Street Seaport in New York City) with a 6:30 PM start for cocktails. Dinner and an awards presentation of the MCC Theater Award honoring arts supporters Stanley and Tracy Shopkorn will begin at 7 PM followed by the performance (and dessert) at 9 PM. Proceeds from the benefit go towards MCC's Playwright's Coalition (for new and emerging writers) and Education and Community Outreach programs. For Miscast reservations, call (212) 727-7722 x22.
