PlayBlog Astaire Looks to the Rainbow The start of previews for Finian's Rainbow brings to mind Francis Ford Coppola's 1968 film version, widely perceived as a failure.

It was, however, the last film in which Fred Astaire had a dancing role. Some critics complained that the dance numbers slowed the film down. But judge for yourself. Here is the "Look to the Rainbow" sequence. A dialogue scene is followed by Petula Clark and Astaire's singing of the ballad; then, at 4:27, Astaire breaks into dance.

PS: The reason he won't let go of that darn carpet bag is that it contains the leprechauns' magical crock of gold.
