Directed and choreographed by Patdro Harris, with music directed and arranged by JMichael, Black Nativity will run Dec. 19-31 at Georgia State's Rialto Center.
Black Nativity features a "pre-professional cast" — ages 14-28 — comprising Ronvé O'Daniel, Jelani Jones, Kelley Young, Galen Williams, Andrea Gooden, Shay Latte, Victor M. Jackson, Brandin Jenkins, Ronndell Smith, Desmond Ellington, DeMille Cole-Heard, Cynthia Baker, Chelsea Reynolds, Elijah Avraham, Jordan Ealey, Brion Binion, Amber Moorer, Keemar Davis, Camilla Zaepfel, Jordan Minter and Ariana Groover.
"A testament to the power of gospel music, the story of the Nativity is told through the combination of scripture, poetry, dance and song that connects a contemporary church revival to the time of managers and swaddling clothes," according to press notes. "This joyous evening brings the real meaning of faith and love to life."
The True Colors production has designs by Shilla Benning (costume design), Rochelle Barker (set design), Ken Yunker (lighting design) and Chris Bartelski (sound design).
