Attention, "Smash" Fans! Marc Shaiman Needs an Extra Ticket… For His Sister | Playbill

News Attention, "Smash" Fans! Marc Shaiman Needs an Extra Ticket… For His Sister Marc Shaiman, who penned the music and co-wrote lyrics for the "Smash" musical Bombshell with his partner Scott Wittman, is looking for an extra ticket to the Actors Fund staging. All tickets for the one-night-only Broadway concert of Bombshell sold out shortly after they were released via a special pre-sale April 13.

"Well, if anyone has tickets, please let me know, so I could get my sister in!" Shaiman told Playbill.com (before the event officially sold out) when asked what details he could share about the special night.

He added, "There's not much I can tell. I mean, it will be a thrill for Scott and I to get to hear all these songs performed — experience them being performed on a Broadway stage with an orchestra. It's a bit of a fantasy. As far as what you'll see and hear, I can't really say… You're going to be seeing just about everyone who performed the songs on the show perform them live on stage. There are a few surprises, but they wouldn't be surprises anymore if I told you."

The concert of Bombshell, the fictional musical about Marilyn Monroe that was central to the NBC series "Smash," will be held June 8 at the Minskoff Theatre.

Tickets (the Minskoff has a capacity of 1,621) sold out in over one hour during the April 13 pre-sale that was made available to fans who donated to a special Kickstarter fund. It was originally planned that remaining tickets would go on sale to the general public April 14.

When asked if Bombshell could "extend" its Broadway engagement, Shaiman said, "No one's really thinking about that. We're just really thinking about this one night… And, it's all very involved. It was a corporate project, and so it comes with a lot of strings attached. No one is really thinking outside of how enjoyable this one night will be, and the fact that it's for the Actors Fund. It's really just trying hard to live in the moment and just enjoy that one night." "Smash" producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron will produce the one-night-only event.

Bombshell will be co-directed by Joshua Bergasse and Scott Wittman with choreography by Bergasse. "Smash" cast members Christian Borle, Will Chase, Megan Hilty, Katharine McPhee and Debra Messing will reunite for the evening.
