News   Attic Theatre to Present West Coast Premiere of Jeff Whitty's Hiding Place
The Hiding Place — penned by Tony-winning Avenue Q librettist Jeff Whitty — will make its West Coast premiere at the Attic Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.

Produced by Robin Roy and directed by Kevin Fabian, performances will begin at the Attic May 23. The limited engagement will run through June 28 and will feature Jen Kays, Jan Munroe, Brian Shnipper, Christine Stump, John Szura, Megan Tropea and Kasey Wilson.

The Hiding Place, which is set in New York in the mid-nineties, concerns "Karl – a popular but unsatisfied novelist and Myra, a struggling playwright/waitress new to the city. The two meet and embark upon a letter-writing affair with notes left hidden for each other in a secret spot on a busy street in Manhattan. Eventually letters lead way to a more involved physical affair which, when ended by Karl, is then in turn dramatized by Myra. On a very syncopated opening night, their relationship is made public creating much turmoil for Karl and Myra as well as their circle of friends and fellow artists. Told in a series of flashbacks and fast forwards, The Hiding Place not only satirizes the literary, theatrical and art scene of New York City but also dramatizes the relentless passions and yearnings that lie in the hearts of all artists everywhere."

The Hiding Place was commissioned by South Coast Repertory and played a subsequent engagement at the Atlantic Theatre Company in Manhattan.

Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 2 PM.

Tickets, priced $20, are available by calling (323) 525-0600, ext. 2 or by visiting The Attic Theatre & Film Center is located at 5429 West Washington Boulevard.
