The tour, with currently announced dates through December, includes performances with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, led by John Williams at Tanglewood; San Francisco Symphony on their Opening Night, led by Michael Tilson Thomas; as well as shows in Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Kansas City and more.

"Go Back Home" features songs by composers with whom the acclaimed singing actress has long been associated (Adam Guettel, Michael John LaChiusa, Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim) and some, like the John Kander and Fred Ebb title track, who are relatively new to her repertoire.

“If there were a Broadway show that were written about my life, especially the last seven years,” McDonald recently said of the album, “this would be the soundtrack.”
