Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald's latest project, the TV series "Mr. Sterling," will premiere on NBC Jan. 10, 2003, the network announced.

The hourlong mid-season drama series will play 8-9 PM (ET) on Fridays.

"Mister Sterling" is a political drama from Emmy Award winning writer-producer Lawrence O'Donnell (NBC's "The West Wing") that "chronicles the daily struggles of well intentioned young Senator, William Sterling Jr. (played by Josh Brolin, of "Hollow Man," "The Mod Squad") who brings a fresh perspective — and his own agenda — to Capitol Hill."

McDonald won Tonys for her work in Broadway's Carousel, Ragtime and Master Class). The ensemble series also features William Russ ("Boy Meets World"), David Noroña ("Six Feet Under"), James Whitmore ("The Shawshank Redemption"), Graham Greene ("The Green Mile") and Chandra West ("The Salton Sea").

McDonald played a caring nurse in the TV movie of Margaret Edson's "Wit."
