The production of the Elton John musical will then make its way to Melbourne's Her Majesty's Theatre. Performances will begin at the Her Majesty's Dec. 30 with an official opening scheduled for Jan. 15, 2009.
Billy Elliot executive producer Louise Withers told Daily Variety that Melbourne could be the show's final stop in Australia.
Billy Elliot, based on the inspirational film of the same, debuted in London. The musical will begin previews at Broadway's Imperial Theatre Oct. 1 with an official opening Nov. 13.
Stephen Daldry, who directed the motion picture, also directs the stage production. The music is by Elton John with book and lyrics by Lee Hall.
