American Ballet Theater dancer Gray Davis put his dance skills to good use June 3 when he leapt onto the subway tracks to save a fallen man, the New York Times reported. The incident happened at the 72nd Street Broadway-Seventh stop in Manhattan in the late evening.

Davis was returning home from watching his wife—also a ballet dancer—perform at the Metropolitan Opera House, when he witnessed a 58-year-old man tumble onto the tracks and fall unconscious. Passersby reportedly told police that a woman pushed the man after a verbal altercation turned physical.

Davis jumped down and lifted the man to safety before pulling himself back onto the platform.
