Artistic director Boyd will helm the production, which will feature choreography by Joshua Bergasse and musical direction by Darren R. Cohen. Performances will continue through July 11.

Barrington's Stage 2 season will include the world premiere of Mark St. Germain's Freud's Last Session, which begins performances June 10. The play, according to the Barrington, is described as such: "After escaping the Nazis in Vienna, legendary psychiatrist Dr. Sigmund Freud invites a young, little known professor, C.S. Lewis to his home in London. Lewis expects to be called on the carpet for satirizing Freud in a recent book, but the dying Freud has a much more significant agenda. On the day England entered World War Two, Freud and Lewis clash on the existence of God, love, sex and the meaning of life – only two weeks before Freud chose to take his own." Performances continue through June 28.

Glen Berger's Off-Broadway hit, Underneath the Lintel, will follow, playing Stage 2 July 8-26. The play is the tale of "a Dutch librarian who, upon finding a 113-year overdue book, goes on a search to find the culprit, and winds up on a life-changing quest. One clue builds upon another as this once-staid librarian embarks on a journey that spans the globe – the result of which carries mystical and spiritual implications."

The Barrington Musical Theatre Lab series, under the direction of Tony Award winner William Finn, will feature a staged reading of the new musical in development Poolside at the Hotel Bel Air. The musical, penned by Janet Allard and Nikos Tsakalakos, will be presented May 23 and 24. Rob Broadhurst and Brent Black's new musical, I'll Be Damned, will be offered Aug. 13-29. Directed and choreographed by Christine O'Grady, HSM2 will play the First Congregational Church on East Street in Pittsfield, MA.

In a statement artistic director Boyd said, "2009 will be a new adventure for all of us in the non-profits. Due to the uncertain financial times, we're consolidating our season and making sure we're being as prudent as possible while offering the most exciting, compelling plays as possible."
