Up Close and Personal: An Evening with Kenny Vance and the Planotones will begin the music series June 13 at 7:30 PM. The evening of songs and stories will span Vance's 50-year career, which includes work on “Saturday Night Live" and the original "Hairspray."
Todd Almond: Wyoming and Parts of Kansas will follow with a performance June 20 at 8 PM. The concert will feature new music from Almond (People Like Us, Yale Rep's We Have Always Lived in the Castle) and is inspired by his journey across the American plains. There will also be an encore performance July 25 at 8 PM.
Joshua Schmidt: Songbook will play June 27 at 8 PM with direction by Michael Padden. The concert will feature Almond and guest artists Cyrilla Baer (Off-Broadway's Adding Machine), Elizabeth Baltes (LCT’s A Minister’s Wife), Drew Gehling (LCT's A Ministers Wife, Jersey Boys), Joel Hatch (Billy Elliott), Marc Kudisch (LCT’s A Minister’s Wife, 9 to 5), Obie Award winner Austin Pendleton, Margo Seibert (Shakespeare Theatre Company's Candide), Bobby Steggert (Ragtime, 110 in The Shade), Amy Warren (August: Osage County) and Lauren Worsham (Encores! Where's Charley?). The event also features musical guests Tim Splain, Richard Carsey, Steve Gilweski and Brad Carbone.
Tales from the Faucet & Other Stories: An Evening with Glen Berger will be held July 18 at 8 PM. The performance will feature original music by PigPen Theatre Company and direction by Michael Page. The evening of stories by Berger will be presented by an ensemble of performers, including cast members of Broadway's Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark.
The Civilians in Concert: Gone Missing, written by Steven Cosson with music and lyrics by Michael Friedman, will close the summer series Aug. 8 at 8 PM. The event will be a concert version of The Civilians' Gone Missing, a wry and whimsical musical documentary. According to press notes, the musical is "crafted from company interviews with real-life New Yorkers about things gone missing, from keys cell phones to dogs and friends…even sanity!"
