Following the success of Peter Pan, which will soon wrap up its acclaimed engagement at The Duke on 42nd Street, Bedlam will be back Off-Broadway in March 2018 with a new production of George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion. Performances are set to begin March 12 at the Sheen Center.

Bedlam Artistic Director Eric Tucker will direct. A full creative team and cast for Bedlam’s Pygmalion will be announced at a later date.
“At this moment in time I'm extremely interested in exploring how power is negotiated through sexual politics in a gritty interpretation of Shaw's classic play,” said Tucker in a statement.
Shaw's Pygmalion tells the story of linguistics expert Henry Higgins and the cockney flower girl he is determined to transform into a proper, dignified woman.
Pygmalion premiered on Broadway in 1914 at the Park Theatre and was subsequently revived on Broadway five times. In 1956, Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe wrote My Fair Lady, a musical based on Shaw’s drama. The Lincoln Center Theater revival of the musical will begin March 15 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater.
Pygmalion is scheduled to officially open March 27 and will play a six-week run through April 22.
Bedlam has garnered a reputation for its minimalist, highly inventive approach to theatre. Past productions include an extended, acclaimed interpretation of Sense and Sensibility as well as the company’s breakthrough hit, Saint Joan.
