News Ben Vereen to Receive Bridge Building Award April 7
Tony Award winner Ben Vereen will be honored during the All Star Project's annual Give Back, Get Back gala benefit April 7 at Lincoln Center's Koch Theater.

A veteran of Broadway's Pippin and Jesus Christ Superstar, Vereen will receive the Bridge Building Award in Community Leadership for his work with the Broadway Theatre Project and youth mentoring.

The Award was established in 2008 to "recognize leaders and organizations that are building important bridges between young people and adults, people from different communities and religions, and people in need and those committed to giving back."

The All Stars Project is a non-profit organization, which creates performing arts activities for poor and minority youth populations. Bill Weir, co-host of ABC's "Nightline," will host the gala that promises hip-hop, rap and dance performances by All Star participants.

The gala begins with cocktails at 6 PM followed by a 7 PM dinner and performance.

A Tony Award winner for his role in Pippin, Vereen has also appeared on Broadway in Wicked, Fosse, Chicago, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hair and I'm Not Rappaport. He was also featured in the television miniseries "Roots." His album, "Stepping Out Live," is currently available. For tickets phone (212) 356-8449. Visit AllStars.
