LAByrinth artistic directors Philip Seymour Hoffman and John Ortiz star in the world premiere of Bob Glaudini's play with Daphne Rubin-Vega and Beth Cole. Peter DuBois directs the staging, which began previews Feb. 27 and opened March 18 at the Public Theater's Martinson Hall. The limited run was originally scheduled through April 8 but has extended to April 29.

The benefit performance (which begins at 7 PM) will be followed by a reception where the audience can "Meet The Artists." All proceeds from the event will benefit LAByrinth Theater Company's 15th anniversary season, hosted by The Public Theater.

The play which follows two couples — one just beginning their courtship, the other married and working through hardship — is described thusly: "Laced with cooking classes, swimming lessons and a smorgasbord of illegal drugs, Jack Goes Boating is a story of date panic, marital meltdown, betrayal and the prevailing grace of the human spirit." The show marks the first time LAB co-artistic directors Ortiz and Hoffman have shared a stage for their company.

The design team for Jack Goes Boating includes David Korins (set), Mimi O'Donnell (costumes), Japhy Weideman (lighting) and David Van Tieghem (composition and sound). The 15th anniversary season of the LAByrinth will continue with Eric Bogosian's This Is Now!, penned with musician-composer Elliott Sharp; as well as developmental productions of Carlo Alban's Intríngulis and Andrea Ciannavei's Pretty Chin Up.
