Presented as a benefit for the Painted Turtle — one of the late Paul Newman's family of Hole in the Wall Camps for seriously ill children — the 7 PM event is a dramatic adaptation of Earnest Hemingway's semi-autobiographical stories that explore a young man's coming of age in Michigan. A.E. Hotchner has adapted the stories for the performance, which will also boast appearances by Danny DeVito, Danny Glover, Jack Nicholson, Edward James Olmos, Sean Penn and Bruce Willis.
The San Francisco Symphony will perform Aaron Copland's original score penned for Nick Adams. American Conservatory Theater's Carey Perloff stages the evening that is produced by Lou Adler and Kevin Duncan.
The World of Nick Adams will take place at Davies Symphony Hall. Tickets, priced $40-$150, are available by phoning (415) 392-4400 or by visiting CityBoxOffice.
