News Berkshire Morning's At Seven Begins Performances July 31 The Berkshire Theatre Festival's production Paul Osborn's Morning's at Seven, staged by the director who helped popularize the largely forgotten play in 1980, begins previews July 31.

Vivian Matalon, the Tony Award-winning director of the Tony-winning 1980 revival of the play, directs this new production. The 1939 family portrait ran only 44 performances on Broadway but was a sensation 40 years later. It was preserved in a TV production and went on to have countless regional productions.

The cast of Broadway veterans including Kevin Carolan, Anita Gillette, David Green, Paul Hecht, Jonathan Hogan, Lucy Martin, Debra Jo Rupp, Joyce Van Patten and Christianne Tisdale.

"Set in 1922, it is an endearing portrait of small-town life," Morning's at Seven press notes state, "[and] pays humorous tribute to an all-American dysfunctional family and the love that binds them together."

The creative team comprises scenic designer R. Michael Miller, costume designer David Murin, lighting designer Ann Wrightson and sound designer Craig Kaufman.
