The program, which is part of the Beijing Music Festival, features Berlioz's Le Corsaire Overture, Ravel's Ma Mre l'oye, and Beethoven's Third Symphony. Simon Rattle, the orchestra's principal conductor, will conduct all the concerts on the tour.

After another Beijing concert, the orchestra will travel to the Seoul Arts Center, the Shanghai Oriental Arts Center, the Hong Kong Cultural Center, the Taipei National Chang Kai Shek Cultural Center, and Tokyo's NHK Hall and Suntory Hall.

This trip is the orchestra's first to China since 1979.

According to the BBC News, a documentary team will accompany the orchestra. It is the same team that created the 2004 film Rhythm It!, in which Rattle and the orchestra introduced 250 inner-city children to Tchaikovsky's Rite of Spring.
