The 26th Annual Summer Gala of Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor, Long Island, will this year be emceed by Ashlie Atkinson, with special appearances by Tony Award winners Betty Buckley and Elizabeth Ashley.
The event will take place July 15, beginning at 6:30 PM with awards and performances at the theatre at 1 Bay Street, then moving to a tent on nearby Long Wharf for dinner and an auction.
Buckley (Cats) and Tony-winning producer Daryl Roth (Indecent) will share duties as honorary chairs of this year’s event. Buckley, who is also scheduled to appear at Bay Street in a Music Mondays solo concert July 10, will perform a number from Grey Gardens, which was a hit at Bay Street in 2015. Lois Smith, a Drama Desk Award winner for The Trip to Bountiful, is also scheduled to perform, as will BodyStories: Teresa Fellion Dance.
The Summer Gala will include a silent auction and a live Fantasy Auction of luxury items, many of them theatre-related, hosted by Tony nominee Richard Kind. Among the available items this year: A week-long stay for four at a luxury villa on the Caribbean island of St. Barthélemy; two house seats to Hello, Dolly! on Broadway; dinner with Wicked composer Stephen Schwartz and Bay Street's artistic director Scott Schwartz; a personalized song written by Andrew Lippa (The Addams Family); two house seats to Come From Away on Broadway; a backstage visit at Hamilton; and a week-long stay for eight on the Caribbean island of Anguilla.
