Betty Buckley, who won a Tony Award for her performance as Grizabella in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats, will take her solo act to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center September 17.
At the 6 PM and 8:30 PM concerts, Buckley will be joined by renowned jazz pianist Christian Jacob, her longtime musical director and arranger.
Currently, Buckley plays Edith in the musical adaptation of Grey Gardens at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. She will also offer September concerts at New York City’s Joe’s Pub.
Buckley offered acclaimed performances in Broadway’s Sunset Boulevard, Carrie, Song & Dance, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, 1776, Triumph of Love and Promises, Promises. She won a Tony Award for her performance as Grizabella in the Broadway production of Cats, and she starred on the London stage in Promises, Promises; Dear World; and Sunset Boulevard, earning an Olivier Award nomination for her work in the latter.
Buckley recently completed shooting the new M. Night Shyamalan film Split, co-starring James McAvoy. The film will be released in January 2017.
