News Biegler and DeLong Are Mother and Son of New Ghosts Adaptation in NC Triad Stage will conjure Ghosts, the Henrik Ibsen play about family lies and legacies, in a world-premiere adaptation written and directed by Preston Lane, March 15-April 5 in Greensboro, NC.

The Ghosts cast includes Gloria Biegler (Broadway's Butley, Arcadia and Spoils of War) as Mrs. Alving and Blake DeLong (Off-Broadway's Taboos, classics at DC's Shakespeare Theatre) as her wasted son, Osvald Alving.

The company also includes resident actress Rebecca Nerz (Triad, University of North Carolina) as Regina Engstrand, resident actor Jeffery West (Triad, PlayMakers and more) as Jakob Engstrand and David McCann (a busy regional actor with credits from Walnut Street Theatre to Pioneer Theatre to St. Louis Rep and beyond) as Pastor Manders.

According to Triad, "Some secrets should not be kept. The past threatens the present in a house haunted by lies and deceit. Twenty-nine years ago, Helene Alving accepted her pastor's advice and stayed with her husband despite his many infidelities. Now, to save her son, Osvald, from the sins of his father, she must finally reveal the secrets of long-ago. But her son has a secret of his own. Can they survive once the truth is brought into the light of day?"

Opening is March 19. Published in 1881, Ghosts is considered to be Norwegian playwright Ibsen's most controversial drama, as it deals with moral corruption and venereal disease. It was banned and rejected by the public in Scandinavia, and had its world premiere in Chicago in 1882.

This is Triad artistic director Lane's second adaptation of an Ibsen classic, following Hedda Gabler for Triad in April 2004. The creative team includes scenic designer Howard C. Jones, costume designer Kelsey Hunt, lighting designer Stuart Nelson and sound designer David E. Smith. The dramaturg is Drew Barker, and the stage manager is Eric Tysinger.

Performances play the Pyrle Theater, 232 South Elm Street, Greensboro, NC.
