Performances will continue through Nov. 14; no casting has been announced.

Eric Fellner, a producer of the show, said in a statement, "On behalf of my fellow producers and the entire production team, we are delighted to be launching the second national tour of Billy Elliot the Musical at the Durham Performing Arts Center. We look forward to presenting the show in this magnificent home for world-class live entertainment."

Universal Pictures Stage Productions, Working Title Films and Old Vic Productions are the show's producers.

As previously reported, Side Show Tony nominee Emily Skinner will play Mrs. Wilkinson in the Chicago production of the Tony-winning Billy Elliot the Musical, which begins previews at the Ford Center/Oriental Theatre March 18. The musical also continues at Broadway's Imperial Theatre. Billy Elliot, according to press notes, is the "funny, heartwarming tale of a young boy with a dream, and a celebration of his triumph against the odds. Set against the historic British miners’ strike of the 1980s, the story follows Billy’s journey as a boy in a small mining town who, after stumbling across a ballet class while on his way to a boxing lesson, realizes that his future lay not in the boxing ring but on stage as a dancer."

Featuring music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, choreography by Peter Darling and direction by Stephen Daldry, Billy Elliot continues to play Broadway’s Imperial Theatre.

The production features scenic design by Ian MacNeil, costume design by Nicky Gillibrand, lighting design by Rick Fisher and sound design by Paul Arditti. Musical supervision and orchestrations are by Martin Koch.

Billy Elliot the Musical will be the season opener at the North Carolina venue. The SunTrust Broadway Series goes on sale beginning March 19 by visiting or by calling (919) 680-2787. For tickets and more information visit
