During a Jan. 28 interview on BBC Radio's "Chris Evans Breakfast Show," John mentioned the project among his upcoming ventures. "There might be a film about my life in the next two or three years," he said. "We have a script by Lee Hall, who wrote the script for 'Billy Elliot' and the musical stage play. We have a couple of directors in mind for that. That will happen, or get off the ground in the next two or three years."

John stated that his life has been too surreal to tackle in the straightforward biopic manner. He described the treatment as "a kind of fantasy of my life. It's not gonna be like a Tina Turner movie, which was great: 'What's Love Got to Do With It.' Not a biopic, more of a fantasy, more of a 'Moulin Rouge.'"

John and Hall previously collaborated on the Olivier and Tony Award-winning musical Billy Elliot. John also penned the scores to Disney's Aida, The Lion King and the short-lived Broadway musical Lestat. His numerous albums include "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," "Tumbleweed Connection," "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy" and his self-titled 1970 album.
