The return engagement of Jomama Jones’ Black Light, previously scheduled through the end of the year, will play its final performance at the Greenwich House Theater November 11. As previously reported, the West Village theatre will welcome the New York Theatre Workshop transfer of Heidi Schreck's What the Constitution Means to Me beginning November 27.

According to Black Light producer Diana DiMenna, plans are in the works to tour the concert show to other cities.

“Daniel [Jones] and I are thrilled to have extended the life of Black Light in New York because it felt like a very necessary healing experience in this deeply divided time,” said DiMenna. “We wish the show could play here forever, but are excited to explore more ways to bring Jomama’s message to more people in more places, and we can’t wait to get started.”

Black Light is created and performed by artist Daniel Alexander Jones, whose alter ego Jomama made her comeback to the stage in 2010 following a 15-year hiatus. The show is a musical journey that fuses the Black American Freedom movement, Afromysticism, and goddess mythology with the musical influences of Prince, Sade, Diana Ross, and Tina Turner.

Directed by Tea Alagić, Black Light features original music by Jomama Jones with Bobby Halvorson, Laura Jean Anderson, Dylan Meek, and Josh Quat. Music direction is by Tariq al-Sabir, based upon Samora Abayomi Pinderhughes’ original arrangements.

The show debuted last January at Joe's Pub as part of the Public Theater’s Under the Radar Festival, and returned to the venue again in February. Black Light transferred to the Greenwich House Theater September 24 where it was set to run through December 31.

The production has scenic design by Gabriel Evansohn, lighting design by Ania Parks, costume design by Oana Botez, and sound design by Nick Kourtides. Maximum Entertainment Productions serves as general manager, and DiMenna produces.

Black Light was originally commissioned by The Public Theater’s New York Voices program. Visit for more information.
