News Black Watch Ends St. Ann's Engagement Dec. 21 The critically acclaimed National Theatre of Scotland production of Black Watch concludes its extended return engagement at St. Ann's Warehouse Dec. 21.

The Iraq war drama returned to St. Ann's following an international tour (and a previous sold-out engagement at St. Ann's in 2007).

Performances began Oct. 30 and were originally scheduled to conclude Nov. 30. Audience demand prompted St. Ann's to extend Black Watch through Dec. 21.

Created from personal testimonies of Scotland's legendary army regiment, the ten-member docudrama incorporates military drills, song, video and historical sequences to reveal an up-close account of the Iraq war. Black Watch was penned by Gregory Burke and directed by John Tiffany.

The physical production necessitates a large playing area in order to represent an esplanade with the audience seated on either side of the action. St. Ann's marks one of the smallest venues the production has played; however, it makes an ideal space as it provides audiences with a closer encounter of the gripping work.
