News Black Watch Will Return to St. Ann's in October The critically lauded National Theatre of Scotland production of Black Watch will return to St. Ann's Warehouse this fall.

Black Watch, which has earned critical and audience praise during its numerous international engagements, will play the Brooklyn venue Oct. 9-Nov. 30.

The production previously sold-out all 23 performances last fall when it played St. Ann's. In fact, after earning a rave from the New York Times and other major publications, the Brooklyn arts venue was unable to accommodate theatergoers hoping to witness the multimedia work exploring the Iraq war from a soldier's point of view.

National Theatre of Scotland's executive producer Neil Murray stated, "The run of Black Watch at St. Ann's in 2007 was one of the great thrills of the short life of the National Theatre of Scotland. So many people wanted to see it but couldn't be accommodated, it felt like unfinished business. It is wonderful to have the opportunity to return to this dynamic space and continue the dialogue that this show generates and demands."

Created from personal testimonies of Scotland's legendary army regiment, the ten-member docudrama incorporates military drills, song, video, and historical sequences, to reveal an up-close account of the Iraq war. Black Watch is penned by Gregory Burke and directed by John Tiffany.

The physical production necessitates a large playing area in order to represent an esplanade with the audience seated on either side of the action. St. Ann's marks one of the smallest venues the production has played; however, it makes an ideal space as it provides audiences with a closer encounter of the gripping work. Black Watch found itself among the theatrical year-end lists for such publications as The New York Times, New York Magazine and Newsweek. The production is currently on tour in Australia and New Zealand.

Tickets for the fall run of Black Watch are currently on sale for St. Ann's members and go on sale to the general public Feb. 25. Tickets may be purchased by phoning (718) 254-8779 or online at artsatstanns.org.

St. Ann's Warehouse is located at 38 Water Street (between Main and Dock St.) in Brooklyn, New York.
