Stephen C. Byrd of Front Row Productions holds the rights to Streetcar and will produce the forthcoming Broadway revival, which he previously stated would be a multi-racial production.

Front Row Productions also presented the all-African-American revival of Cat On a Hot Tin Roof on Broadway in 2008. Underwood was reportedly offered the role of Brick, which was ultimately played by Terrence Howard in that revival.

Mann (Me, Myself & I) will direct the New Orleans-set drama, which is aiming for a spring 2012 revival. Dates of production and a theatre have not been set.

Byrd's intentions for the Broadway revival of Streetcar were made known in 2008 and solidified in early 2010 following the heralded Sydney Theatre Company revival of the play, which starred Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett under the direction of Liv Ullman at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Byrd initially expressed interest in a Broadway transfer of the Australian production, but noted that Blanchett and director Ullman did not seem to make a Broadway transfer of Streetcar a priority.

Underwood is a Golden Globe Award nominee for "In Treatment" and "L.A. Law." He was most recently seen in the NBC series "The Event." He appeared in the City Center Encores! production of Purlie, as well as Measure for Measure for the Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park.
