Playwright Charlie Schulman (Character Assassins, The Fartiste) penned The Kitchen, which serves as the source material for the musical that has music and lyrics by Michael Roberts (Golf: The Musical). Daniel Kutner (associate director Paradise Found, LoveMusik) will stage the reading that will feature Block (Wicked, 9 to 5), Kaplan (Falsettos), as well as Gretchen Bieber (Hairspray) and Liberman (LoveMusik).
The work is billed as "a new musical that questions the 'facts' surrounding an author's award-winning memoir. With a troubled family front and center, dueling versions of the truth collide as long-buried secrets are revealed in this hilarious and moving musical about family, memory and the passage of time."
