Classic Arts News Bolshoi Season to Feature Graham Vick Zauberfl‹te The Bolshoi Theater's 2005-06 season will open on September 10 with a revival of Puccini's Madama Butterfly, the Russian news agency RIA Novosti reports.
Performances will take place at the recently built New Stage while the theater's main building, which dates from 1825, is renovated.

Highlights of the opera season include a new production of Mozart's Die Zauberfl‹te (The Magic Flute) by British director Graham Vick, marking the 250th anniversary of the composer's birth, and a staging of Prokofiev's War and Peace by Boris Pokrovsky, founder of Moscow's Chamber Opera Theater.

The Bolshoi Ballet will present a new production of Prokofiev's Cinderella by choreographer Yuri Posokhov and a five-day festival celebrating the birthday of ballerina Yuri Posokhov. The company will tour South Korea in October, the U.K. in March and April 2006, and Japan in May.
