Citigroup and The Wang had recently announced a 15-year partnership to support arts, education and community initiatives in Boston. Citi Performing Arts Center — which will be formally unveiled Dec. 1 — will operate both the Wang and Shubert. "Citigroup is proud to support the arts and arts education in Boston through the newly named Citi Performing Arts Center," said Citibank North America president Maura Markus in a statement. Citi Performing Arts Center president & chief executive officer Josiah A. Spaulding, Jr. added, "Now, with our new name and Citigroup's partnership, we can create a stronger platform for public programming, collaboration, and expanded access to the arts in Boston. Working together as partners, the benefits to the Boston community will be greater than what either of us could do individually."

Citi Performing Arts Center [formerly The Wang Center for the Performing Arts, Inc.] is a non-profit organization "dedicated to presenting broad-based, popular art and entertainment, and arts education programming that is accessible to adults, youth and families of diverse backgrounds and interests throughout greater Boston," according to materials.
