Originally scheduled to play slick lawyer Flynn through Jan. 30, Barrett had recently extended his run to Feb. 13. He will now stay with the show through Feb. 27, according to a production spokesperson.

As previously announced, Brenda Braxton, who is currently playing Velma Kelly in the Chicago run at Los Angeles' Pantages Theatre, will assume that role on Broadway beginning Feb. 21. Terra C. MacLeod is Chicago's current Velma, and Donna Marie Asbury will play the part of the merry murderess Feb. 14-20.

Chicago — featuring a score by John Kander and the late Fred Ebb — currently stars Belle Calaway as Roxie Hart, Carol Woods as Matron "Mama" Morton, Ray Bokhour as Amos Hart and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine. Anne L. Nathan returns to the role of "Mama" Morton Feb. 21.

Brent Barrett received an Olivier Award nomination for his role in the London company of Kiss Me, Kate, and his other theatrical credits include the Broadway productions of Annie Get Your Gun and Candide. Barrett received a Los Angeles Drama Critics Award for his work in the L.A. production of Chicago and has been seen Off Broadway in Closer Than Ever, March of the Falsettos, The Death of Von Richtofen, The Time of the Cuckoo and Portrait of Jenny. His television and film appearances include "Hercules," "Longtime Companion," "All My Children," "Another World" and "Guiding Light."

Chicago won the Tony for Best Revival of a Musical in 1997 as well as awards for actors Bebe Neuwirth and James Naughton, director Walter Bobbie, lighting designer Ken Billington and choreographer Ann Reinking. The original production was directed and choreographed by the late Bob Fosse.
