New York theatre veterans Brian Kerwin and Mary Mara play the two lead roles of Uncle Peck and Li'l Bit in the Intiman Theatre's staging of Paula Vogel's How I Learned to Drive, which officially opens July 22. The show began previews July 17 and will run through Aug. 16.

Kerwin was most recently seen on Broadway as Oscar in the Stockard Channing revival of The Little Foxes at Lincoln Center. Other New York credits include the premiere of Nicky Silver's Raised in Captivity, One Shoe Off at the Public Theater, and Lips Together, Teeth Apart at Manhattan Theatre Club. His film work includes Murphy's Romance and Love Field.

Mary Mara is familiar with Vogel's work, having appeared in the New York production of the playwright's And Baby Makes Seven opposite Cherry Jones. She has also acted in Kindertransport and Mad Forest, both at Manhattan Theatre Club, and the Public Theater's Twelfth Night.

Also in the cast are James Garver, Jolene Hjerleid and Marianne Owen. Mark Rucker, who piloted last season's Intiman mounting of The Taming of the Shrew, will direct Vogel's memory play about a young Southern girl and her complex, incestuous relationship with her uncle.
