As previously reported, Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's Gigi, the Oscar-winning film musical that was later adapted for the Broadway stage, will play a pre-Broadway engagement in the Eisenhower Theater at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in January 2015 with Eric Schaeffer (Follies, Million Dollar Quartet) directing.

The 5th Avenue reveals that Josh Bergasse ("Smash") will choreograph the fully-staged 2015 Kennedy Center production. Official dates of a Broadway production, which is scheduled to follow the Kennedy Center run, have not been announced.

Prior to the Kennedy Center premiere, Seattle audiences will get a taste of Gigi, when the 5th Avenue Theatre presents a concert version May 16-18, under Schaeffer's direction. A Seattle cast of actors will be assembled for the concert.

According to the 5th Avenue, "Set in the magical world of La Belle Époque in turn-of-the-century Paris, Gigi is a romantic comedy about a young woman groomed in the custom of her family to be a companion to a wealthy playboy, until the two unexpectedly realize this is in fact true love."

The score includes "Thank Heaven for Little Girls," "I'm Glad I'm Not Young Anymore," "The Night They Invented Champagne," "Say a Prayer for Me Tonight," "It's a Bore," "I Remember It Well," the Oscar-winning Best Song "Gigi" and more. Lerner penned lyrics, Loewe wrote the music. The 1958 M-G-M film was based on the 1951 Broadway play by Anita Loos, who drew from the work of novelist and short story writer Colette.

The 5th Avenue has also announced that it will welcome Lily Tomlin (June 6-7) and Ballroom with a Twist (July 25-27).
