News Broadway Braves the Snow as Shows Remain Open Broadway will remain in business on Dec. 5, despite the arrival of a driving snow storm.

Snow began falling in the greater New York City area before noon on Friday. Precipitation is expected to continue through Saturday, with accumulations ranging from six inches to one foot. The League of American Theatres and Producers issued a release saying it was business as usual in Times Square, and press spokespersons representing the lion's share of Broadway offerings said their shows were going forward with the Friday night performances.

Broadway was buried by a blizzard on Feb. 17 of this year, with 20 inches or more of snow falling on the city. Fortunately, the date was a Monday, when many shows are dark. Broadway resumed business on Feb. 18.
