The Broadway encore of the 2013 hit Motown The Musical has announced a digital lottery and student rush ticket policy, which will begin July 20.

The show, which brims with songs made famous by Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Michael Jackson, The Jackson Five and other pop acts of the 1960s and 1970s, began performances July 12 at the Nederlander Theatre.

Motown The Musical will offer a limited number of $32 same-day tickets via a digital lottery for all performances. The lottery will open at 8 AM for matinees; 10 AM for evening performances, and will remain open until 10 AM for matinees; 2 PM for evening performances, when winners will be drawn. Winners, notified by email within minutes upon the drawing, will have 60 minutes to pay for their tickets with a credit card online and can pick up the tickets at the Nederlander Theatre box office (208 West 41st Street) 30 minutes prior to show time. Photo ID is required for pickup and the number and location of seats awarded by the lottery are subject to availability. For details and entrance to the digital lottery, visit

Motown The Musical is also offering a limited number of $32 student rush tickets, made available for purchase at the Nederlander Theatre when the box office opens on the day of the performance. Tickets are limited to two per person, and are subject to availability. Student ID is required for purchase.

Directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, the show has a book by Motown Records founder Berry Gordy, who is also co-producer with Tony winner Kevin McCollum (Rent, In the Heights, Avenue Q) and Sony Music CEO Doug Morris.

This encore engagement incorporates revisions to the show’s book and structure, which were reflected in the national tour and London production.
