News Broadway Revival of Les Misérables Finds Its New Javert; Current Star Will Play Manila New Zealand native Hayden Tee will assume the role of Javert beginning Jan. 29, 2016, in Cameron Mackintosh's Broadway revival of Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil's Les Miserables, now in its second year at the Imperial Theatre.

Tee comes directly to Broadway from the Australian production of Les Misérables, for which he has received wide acclaim. Earl Carpenter will give his final performance as Javert at the matinee Jan. 24 before departing to star in the upcoming Manila engagement of Les Misérables.

The Broadway company is currently headed by Alfie Boe as Jean Valjean, Tony Award nominee Montego Glover as Fantine, Tony Award and Olivier Award nominee Gavin Lee as Thenardier, Rachel Izen as Madame Thenardier, Brennyn Larkas Eponine, Chris McCarrell as Marius, Alexandra Finke as Cosette and Wallace Smith as Enjolras.

Born in New Zealand and trained at Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA), Tee has appeared in a number of productions, including originating the role of Jack Worthing in the world premiere of the new musical Being Earnest, written by Paul Gordon. Other credits include Edward Rutledge in 1776, Cinderella’s Prince/Wolf in Into the Woods, King Arthur in Camelot, Freddy Einsford-Hill in My Fair Lady, Marius in the 20th Anniversary West End production of Les Misérables, Thomas Andrews in Titanic: The Musical.

Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, Les Misérables is an "epic and uplifting story about the survival of the human spirit," according to press notes.
