News Broadway Stands Up for Freedom to Feature Nikki M. James, Beth Leavel, Andrew Rannells and More Tony Award winners Nikki M. James, Beth Leavel and Tony nominee Andrew Rannells will appear in Broadway Stands Up for Freedom, a benefit for the New York Civil Liberties Union, which will take place July 25 at the Skirball Center.

Daniel Goldstein, who will stage the upcoming Broadway revival of Godspell, will direct the 7:30 PM concert, which will be hosted and music directed by Seth Rudetsky.

In addition to Book of Mormon stars James and Rannells and Baby It's You! star Leavel, the evening will feature appearances and performances by John Gallagher Jr. (American Idiot), Moisés Kaufman (33 Variations), Erica Ash (Baby It's You), Nellie McKay (Threepenny Opera), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Rent), Erich Bergen (Jersey Boys), Kyra Da Costa (Baby It's You), John Tartaglia (Avenue Q), Gavin Creel (Hair), Steven Pasqual (reasons to be pretty), Christina Sajous (American Idiot), Lindsay Mendez (Everyday Rapture), Celia Keenan-Bolger (Spelling Bee), De'Adre Aziza (Women on the Verge…), Gbenga Akinnagbe ("Nurse Jackie"), Crystal Starr Knighton (Baby It's You), Krysta Rodriguez (The Addams Family), Zachary Prince (Baby It's You), Christina Sajous (Baby It's You), Liana Stampur and Clinton Curtis.

Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tony Kushner (Angels in America) is the honorary chairman for the event. He is joined by honorary members Susan Sarandon, Alan Cumming, Harvey Fierstein, Bill Irwin, Tom Kitt, Stephen Schwartz, Billy Crudup, Marc Shaiman, Scott Whitman and Thomas Schumacher.

All proceeds will benefit the NYCLU's youth programming, including work for LGBT teenagers; the Teen Health Initiative, which educates teenagers on their rights to access health care in New York City; and its work to stop overly aggressive policing and military recruiting in the city’s public schools.
