Broadway Vet Will Join Phantom; Norm Lewis Extends Run Again

Lewis, who recently extended his contract with Phantom through Jan. 31, 2015, will now play an additional week of performances through Feb. 7. He joined the Broadway cast last May.

It has also been announced that Julia Udine and Linda Balgord (Passion, Aspects of Love, Sunset Boulevard), who play Christine and Madame Giry, respectively, in the new national tour of Phantom, will reprise their roles in the original Broadway production at the Majestic Theatre beginning Dec. 15. They respectively replace Mary Michael Patterson and Ellen Harvey, who exit the production Dec. 13.

The cast of Phantom also includes Jeremy Hays (Raoul), Laird Mackintosh (Monsieur André), Tim Jerome (Monsieur Firmin), Michele McConnell (Carlotta), Christian Šebek (Piangi), Kara Klein (Meg Giry) and Kaley Ann Voorhees (Christine alternate).

The Phantom of the Opera is produced by Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Group, has music by Lloyd Webber and is directed by Harold Prince. Lyrics are by Charles Hart (with additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe), and the book is by Stilgoe and Lloyd Webber.

It has production design by the late Maria Björnson, lighting by Andrew Bridge and sound design by Mick Potter with original sound by Martin Levan. Musical staging and choreography are by Gillian Lynne. Orchestrations are by David Cullen and Lloyd Webber.
