Casts of Mamma Mia!, Pageant, Kristin Chenoweth, Shia LaBeouf and More Join the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, raising awareness and funds for Lou Gehrig's disease, has taken the Internet by storm. As of Aug. 26, the ALS Association has received $88.5 million in donations compared to $2.6 million during the same time period last year (July 29-Aug. 26), and awareness has been raised by the viral Ice Bucket Challenge — asking individuals to pour ice water over themselves and/or donate to the cause.
