As of Aug. 19, the ALS Association has received $22.9 million in donations compared to $1.9 million during the same time period last year (July 29-Aug. 19), and awareness has been raised by the viral Ice Bucket Challenge — asking individuals to pour ice water over themselves and/or donate to the cause.
