Located in New York City's Carlyle Hotel, the venue will undergo a "soft renovation during the summer months," according to an announcement. The renovation will include the "installation of newly designed banquets, chairs, as well as a state-of-the-art sound and light system." The famous murals will remain untouched. The cabaret and jazz space will then reopen in the fall with return engagements of Kitt and Grammy Award winner Steve Tyrell as well as Woody Allen & The Eddy Davis New Orleans Jazz Band, who will perform Monday evenings.

"Each of these artists creates an exciting, standing-room-only atmosphere at the Carlyle, and we are thrilled that they remain in our family," commented managing director James McBride in a statement. "I am particularly honored that we will be graced by the presence of Ms. Kitt during her 80th birthday year."

Singer-actress Kitt last appeared on Broadway in the revival of Nine. Other credits include Bal Negre, Leonard Silliman's New Faces of 1952, Mrs. Patterson, Shinbone Alley, Jolly's Progress, and her Tony Award-nominated performances in Timbuktu! and The Wild Party. Her screen credits include the 1965 drama "I Spy" and purring as Catwoman for the 1960s television series "Batman."
