The producers stated on May 18, "In looking at business for late June, we realized June 6 is the right time to end this glorious run of Yasmina Reza's Tony winning play. We are incredibly proud and thrilled with the success of Yasmina's brilliant play, Matthew Warchus' superb direction, and the acting talents of our three amazing casts. God of Carnage has delighted thousands of audiences and we couldn’t be happier."
The play now stars Dylan Baker, Jeff Daniels, Lucy Liu and Janet McTeer. The original Broadway cast starred Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis, James Gandolfini and Marcia Gay Harden.
The second cast starred Christine Lahti, Annie Potts, Jimmy Smits and Ken Stott.
After receiving rave reviews in London, God of Carnage opened on Broadway March 22, 2009, to critics' praise.
Jeff Daniels originated the role of Alan in the original Broadway production, for which he received a Tony nomination. In a rare casting twist, he returns to the show to play the role of Michael. Janet McTeer created the role of Veronica in the London premiere of the play.
The play focuses on the aftermath of a playground altercation between two boys and what happens when their parents meet to talk about it.
