Super Bowl XLVIII

On Sunday, Feb. 2 the Seattle Seahawks will face off against the Denver Broncos at MetLife Stadium in the first-ever, open-air, cold-weather Super Bowl.

Super Bowl XLVIII is full of firsts. Not only will it be the first open-air cold-weather Super Bowl, but it was recently announced that Grammy Award-winning opera singer Renee Fleming will perform the national anthem. This is the first time in history that an opera singer will perform at the Super Bowl. Here's a sample of The Great American Soprano's vocal expertise in her rendition of "O mio babbino caro" from Gianni Schicchi.

Super Bowl Boulevard

The Super Bowl is bound for Broadway and will take over Time Square on Super Bowl Weekend. A winter wonderland of events, coined Super Bowl Boulevard, will be set up on Broadway between 34th and 47th Streets starting on Wednesday, Jan. 29 and running through Saturday, Feb. 1. Numerous events will take place throughout the weekend including a toboggan run, a NFL shop at Macy's Herald Square, and performances from the Broadway casts of Rock of Ages and Jersey Boys, just to name a few. Click here for more information on Super Bowl Boulevard.

PepsiCo Super Bowl Celebration #PEPCITY

As thanks to New York and New Jersey residents, PepsiCo will host a three-day celebration at Bryant Park’s Winter Village in New York City. A wide variety of performances will take place inside a custom-designed dome that will span 10,000 square feet in Bryant Park. In addition to other performances, a cast of Broadway performers has been assembled to recreate numbers from some of Broadway's popular musicals including: Chicago, Mamma Mia!, Motown, Newsies, Pippin and Rocky on stage throughout the day.

Broadway Is Open for Business!

Despite the ensuing madness from Super Bowl Boulevard and #PEPCITY, Broadway will be open for business. Side streets in the theatre district will be open. The Broadway plazas are closed to traffic as always, but pedestrians will be able to make their way throughout the theatre district with ease. All Broadway theatres will be fully accessible.

We even got in the spirit with a series of custom NFL-themed Playbills. Check them out here.

A few shows have made slight changes to their performance schedule for game day. Times Square will be busy, but everyone will be able to easily access the side streets and Broadway theatres. Click here to check out Playbill.com's updated performance schedule for Super Bowl Sunday.

The Broadway League has also created a useful map that details closures in the Times Square area during the Super Bowl. Check it out here

"We are happy to welcome visitors from around the world to Broadway and Times Square! Our Broadway Plazas are filled with Super Bowl fun and activities, but we want to clarify and reiterate that all cross streets are open as usual, providing easy access to the theatres," said Broadway League executive director Charlotte St. Martin in a statement. "To help provide information for our theatregoers, Broadway – the theatre district – is open, and we encourage our theatregoers to arrive early to enjoy the live performances taking place all over Times Square while enjoying the excitement of Super Bowl Boulevard.”

• "Play Only" window at the Times Square booth under the red steps. All booths accept credit cards. • Day of tickets: evening performances open at 3 PM (Tuesdays at 2PM), matinees 10AM-2 PM (only matinee tickets, not evening tickets).

• Usually great seats, sometimes in the first two rows of the house, up to a pair of tickets.

• Lotteries are free to enter: Show up at the box office (or designated spot) at the scheduled time to write down your name and how many tickets you want. At half-hour after turning in your name, enteries are drawn at random. Most shows have about 25 tickets in their lottery pool. Cash only, bring ID, $25-$40 most start at 5:30 PM and draw winners around 6:30 PM for an 8 PM show.

• Rush: Rush tickets are normally available either when the box office opens or a few hours before the show begins.

With the concierge service, uniformed TodayTix concierge agents will meet ticket buyers outside the theatre to deliver the tickets. You can download TodayTix app free of charge from the App Store.
