News Broadway's Lane and Krakowski Join NBC's "Muppets Christmas" Tony Award winners Nathan Lane and Jane Krakowski along with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg have joined the cast of the upcoming NBC holiday special, " A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa."

The New York trio join the already starry lineup that includes Jesse L. Martin (Rent), Whoopi Goldberg (Xanadu), Richard Griffiths (Equus, Uma Thurman, Tony Sirico, Steve Schirripa, Petra Nemcova, Paul Williams and Madison Pettis. The hour-long holiday presentation is slated to broadcast Dec. 17 at 8 PM (ET).

In "A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa," the beloved puppet characters "deliver an all new one-hour special filled with song and dance, mayhem and heaps of holiday high spirits," boasts an announcement. "On Christmas Eve the Muppets mistakenly avert three letters from making their way to Santa Claus in the North Pole — leaving three Christmas wishes at stake."

Featuring songs by Paul Williams ("The Muppet Movie"), the new special is penned by Hugh Fink, Andrew Samson, Scott Ganz and Williams. The Muppets Studio executive produces with producer Martin G. Baker.
