News Brooks to Stage Reading of Cowhig's Lidless at Yale The Yale Repertory Theatre will stage a free reading of Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig's Yale Drama Series Award-winning play Lidless on Sept. 21.

Hal Brooks (No Child…) will direct the 7:30 PM presentation in the Iseman Theatre that features cast members Laura Esposito, Lameece Issaq and Kate Nowlin. Lidless, according to Yale, "is about a former Guantanamo Bay detainee who journeys to the home of his female US Army interrogator 15 years after his detention, demanding half her liver for the damage she wreaked on his body and soul."

Last spring playwright David Hare (The Vertical Hour, Amy's Room) selected Lidless from 650 submissions as the winning work of the Yale Drama Series. The play was presented this past summer at the Ojai Playwrights Conference and will be published by Yale University Press.
