The not-for-profit's fifth season will see the world premiere of Brother Wolf, "an Appalachian adventure with live bluegrass music," by Triad artistic director Preston Lane.

"High in the Appalachians, a legendary hero roams the hills and hollers of North Carolina — fighting for good and risking everything to protect the mountain settlers," according to the new season announcement. "Against a tapestry of the music and folklore of the region, Brother Wolf explodes with the action of the brave adventures of Brother Wolf as he fights monsters, mothers and fire breathing foes. In the tradition of the award winning film 'Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou?,' Brother Wolf blends ancient mythology with bluegrass music to create a distinctly American story infused with theatricality, daring and humor."

Lane is an Appalachian native. The new work runs March 12-April 2, 2006.

The new season will also include Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire; Jeffrey Hatcher's adaptation of The Turn of the Screw ; Ernest Thompson's On Golden Pond ; Athol Fugard's "Master Harold"…and the boys ; and the season-closer, Thornton Wilder's The Matchmaker.
