Former Artistic Director of the Old Vic, Jonathan Miller will present a lecture at the University of Buffalo's Center for the Arts, April 8. Miller co-authored and appeared in the career-making, Beyond the Fringe, with Alan Bennett, Dudley Moore, and Peter Cook. In a more serious vein, his reputation was built on his many Shakespeare productions including: Merchant of Venice at the National with Lawrence Olivier and Joan Plowright, and Taming of the Shrew for the Royal Shakespeare Company. As Artistic Director for the Vic (Jan. 88 - Oct. 90) he directed productions including: Andromache with Janet Suzman, The Tempest with Max von Sydow, King Lear and The Liar.
