The performance will be emceed by Burke Moses (Beauty and the Beast, Guys and Dolls, Kiss Me Kate) in the role of openly-gay former New Jersey governor Jim McGreevey, a self-proclaimed spokesman for those who suddenly find themselves outed to the world.
The new play by Steven Fisher will be directed by David Glenn Armstrong and will feature a cast that also includes Summer Broyhill (Hairspray), Becky Barta (Les Miserables), Dennis Michael Hall (The Full Monty), James Judy (The Scarlet Pimpernel, Into The Woods), Jason Michael Butler (Off Broadway's Looking for Billy Haines) and Zal Owen (Fiddler on the Roof National Tour).
The reading of the new play will begin at 8 PM and is inspired by Clementi, the 18-year-old college freshman violinist who killed himself after he was live-streamed during an intimate encounter with another male student. According to press notes, …sorry "explores in a fearless way the question of what really pushes someone off a bridge."
In the symphonic play, "Symphonie Fantastique" by Hector Berlioz, a piece that Clementi was rehearsing with the Rutgers Symphony Orchestra at the time of his death, is threaded throughout and parallels the teenager's death to the life of Berlioz and the story of the symphony.
