Variety reports that Burrell, who appeared in the original London production of Drunk Enough to Say I Love You, will repeat his work for New York audiences under the direction of James Macdonald.
The U.S. premiere at the Public Theater is a co-production with London's Royal Court, where Drunk Enough to Say I Love You made its world premiere. Churchill's latest work elliptically depicts the submissive relationship between Britain and America.
Ty Burrell appeared on Broadway in Macbeth and Off-Broadway in Lanford Wilson's Burn This, Show People and Richard III. His screen appearances include "Back to You," "Friends with Money" and "Dawn of the Dead."
Director James MacDonald will also helm Churchill's Top Girls for its Broadway bow at MTC's Biltmore Theatre in April 2008. Currently, Churchill is adapting her stage work A Number for an HBO Films-BBC Films collaboration.
